Electric Bike Store encourages UK staycationers to get on an e-bike

Press Release 27th August 2014

VOLTburlington    The VOLT™ Burlington Electric Bike

As 74% of the UK plan a staycation Electric Bike Store encourages Brits to give e-bikes a go.

With more families than ever opting for a ‘staycation’ rather than a pricey holiday abroad, one of the UK’s leading providers of electric bikes is urging those staying in the country this summer to hit the open road and enjoy a memorable cycling holiday.

Two new reports released this month found that 74% of Britons were planning a holiday in the UK this year, while the domestic ‘staycation’ market has increased by 114% in just one year. It seems the British population is shunning exotic holidays for family-friendly holidays in some of the most beautiful areas of the UK – and there’s no better way to take in the splendour of the British Isles than by bicycle.

Electric bikes are an ideal way to explore and see the sights on a UK ‘staycation’. Whether using the powerful motor to ascend steep climbs in the Lake District, pedalling along picturesque canals in Bath, or hitting one of the many National Cycle Network paths around the country, hopping on a bike is one of the best ways to enjoy the great British scenery.

Piers Metcalfe of Electric Bike Store, says, “Many people are put off by the idea of a cycling holiday – it probably sounds like a lot effort and energy, while most folk want to take things easy when they get a week off work. Electric bikes allow riders to go at their own pace as though they were on a typical pushbike, but they also have the bonus of a battery assisted motor which can take the strain when the going gets tough! Having a bike that can minimise the effort required also means you can go out exploring further than you would on a conventional bicycle. It’s a fantastic way to see some of the most beautiful regions of the UK without breaking a sweat, and a truly great way to enjoy a stay-at-home holiday.”

Electric cycles, or e-bikes, as they’re often known, come in a multitude of styles to suit all riders. Those who want to pedal at a leisurely pace through a picturesque spa town or along a paved canal towpath an electric road bike or electric city bike provide an effortless, and comfortable ride . Those who enjoy the roads but also like to get more adventurous from time to time there are hybrid bikes as well as electric mountain bikes that are tough enough to tackle mountains.

There are also folding electric bicycles that make them easy to transport on trains, motorhomes or even in the boot of a car. There’s truly a model to suit any holiday maker’s need.

The motor-powered electric bikes are not recommended for anyone under the age of 14, but the children don’t have to be left at home with the grandparents! For the younger members of the family there are a range of options available, including spacious trailers and baby seats. Most children from the ages of 7-14 can handle long days out on a regular pushbike and in many cases they will have higher energy levels than the accompanying adults who may find that extra boost from their motor really handy for keeping up!
